Work Widow and other musings, or heartbreaks

wow, been a long time.

I'm still a work widow and that looks like it will continue for a while. That being said, this was a very challenging week in the household.

I have had some somewhat founded concerns with Eli and again we had another bad Monday. I won't bore you with details, but coupled with Owen being sick on Monday it was about all I could take. While at the pediatrician's office for Owen, the ped asked about Eli ahd behavior and she knew right away things were bad. (we had previously been for a behaviour consult and did play therapay. We got nothing out of it.) After our discussion I now have a number for a child psychiatrist that hopefully our insurance will cover without a crazy deductable. Please just pray that we can get us all some help, and fast.

Owen, was sick Monday through Wednesday with a fever and fussines. Randon symptom, nothing else and now he's as happy as a clam. He doesn't like it when you walk away however :) Ms. Holly loves him and I can now see that he loves her too.

Meanwhile...

Busisness at Mosquito Squad is slow. We are hoping that it will pick up soon. So, if you're in the area and have mosquitos, we can help!

There was seriously too much to write about, but I have taken some super cute pics of the boys and hope to get them up soon.

A blog in three parts

Part I: Eli and his ooky rash

Part II: Some thoughts about starting school, again.

Part III: Working Widow

I: yes, gross ooky rash. Eli has impetigo. I'm mortified, but we're on the mend. Apparently more common in kids with excema, which he has and is on LOTS of medication for. But still, it's gross and disgusting and anything with the word ""contagious" grosses me out. The doc took one look on Monday and confirmed my suspicions so we're on antibiotics. So, in the effort to prevent the spread, Eli and I hung out just us today. (see facebook for morning pics.) I will try and figure out how to upload from my phone but that's a lot of technology waiting to happen LOL. Anyway, with all spots covered, we headed to Wal Mart for some us time, while I looked at supplies (see part II.) While we have had some serious issues (or what I consider serious), today was a perfectly joyous day in the world of a 3.5 year old boy. I think he really enjoyed it and he came home with a super cool truck that is now sleeping on his top bunk with a book of its own to read. Hopefully, in a few days we'll be ready to see the real world, but in spite of things, today was fairly good. Let's just hope that it goes no further!!!

II: So, we looked at school supplies. I have been at a loss about where to start with getting back in the classroom. I can't believe after two short years that I have forgotten so much. (oh yeah, have two kids now and little sleep over the last year may have done it.) Anyway, found that I still love the school supply aisle at Wal-Mart and remembered I could stay there for hours just looking at it. It's beautiful!!! But then I also remember how much money I spend each year getting started, ugh. Harder this time with no more checks until September 20. But, that just means I'll be a creative spender, right???

III: Speaking of creative spender, I find being at home, with no parental back up, forces me out into the real world to keep the kids and myself busy. Unfortunately, this means I spend more LOL. But, that's ok, I'm going to get that taken care of. But did realize today in this time of change in our family that I'm e3ssentially a working widow three to four days a week. I am grateful though because I know it means I live the way I do, have the house I do and occasionally get to see that fabulous man I married. In the mean time, though, I decided that Eli needs some geography lessons and we'll start with the US map. We will start playing "Where is Daddy this week?" That way, maybe Eli can see that there really is a place called Houston, San Diego and Phoenix. Sad I know, but we'll make the best of it!!!

Long post today, promise pics tomorrow!!!

mmmm, dinner

So while I'm not a gourmet chef, I'm fairly decent at preparing meals that my whole family will eat somewhat willingly. Eli has his moments being three and Paul, well is limited, shall we say, with his veggies. Eli would certainly prefer chicken nuggets and fries each night, however, we must vary from that menu quite often. In light of all that, I made a hit last night!!

Much to my surprise I had discovered that Eli loves glazed carrots. Random, I know but he eats them up. I made those: one can of sliced carrots, drained the juice, add some juice from a can of mandarin oranges and some brwon sugar and set that to simmer. yum! We used the oranges as a side for the boys.

Next, grilled chicken. I found a "Roasted Red Pepper italian" by kraft that I mix one to one with mayo and let marinate for about a 1/2 hour before grilling. I have never been a fan of mayo on the grill, but this stuff is GREAT. Paul has mastered grilling chicken and it was the best we had ever eaten last night. So with out chicken rice a roni, glazed carrots, chicken and a few oranges, Eli ate two whole plates... and so did OWEN!! Yummy!!!

ok, so that took a long time

I had forgotten I started this, and then couldn't get back in LOL. I'm a dope.

So, some updates from the last post.

BOTH Paulie and I have NEW JOBS!! Through the grace of God I got a job at LISD, I still am in disbelief knowing the market is so slim. I will be back in Third Grade, my first love, and am truly excited. While I miss parts of directing a center, I am grateful for what it means to me and my family to have a regular schedule, time for us and then the benefits that it will mean to Eli. More on that later.

Paulie, is moving UP: from boobs to brains :) The fabulous team that created the breast biopsy device he sold before has now started a new one with the brain and neuro surgery. While he impacted the world of women's health on a daily basis before, he now can impact so many more. Nico is named after a young boy whose brain tumor was successfully removed using this device. Pretty darn cool. Proud is not even the right word that I am of him. Pretty amazing man I'm married to.

The boys: Owen is growing, and CHUBBY. He battled ear infections and I do think that tubes are in our future soon. But other than that he's wonderful. His smile makes me giddy to my toes. He is not crawling yet, but has finally dicsovered he can get on hands and knees and is trying to pull up on things. This may have to do with his weight :) or the ear issue. Hopefully we'll find out soon, and I'm trying to let my mommy radar slow down some.

Eli is doing much much better. He had really been struggling at the school we were at. His class was very large and with me in the office there was little or no chance that any behavior issues were going to be resolved. So, I have found a center close to us, smaller class size and teacher discount to boot! We can now implement time out again and that is GREAT. (previous school didn't use it.) So, we are on the right track!!

Upcoming: I really hope to keep this updated for family mostly. We have lots across the country and I know that phone calls and snail mail with photos are scarce. SORRY. I hope to get refocused here soon!!!

Talk at ya later...
